The Steinway Lyngdorf Model D is the brand’s flagship full-range floorstanding dipole loudspeaker system, engineered to deliver uncompromising, reference-level sound that mirrors the scale, dynamics and realism of live performance. Rather than functioning as a conventional speaker, the Model D is conceived as a complete, fully integrated digital audio system, where every element, from signal processing to amplification and driver control is precisely matched and optimised as a unified whole.
The Model D is a true full-range dipole loudspeaker, capable of reproducing the entire audible spectrum, from deep, room-filling bass to delicate, ultra-high frequencies without relying on external subwoofers. Its open-baffle structure allows sound to radiate both forward and backward in a controlled pattern, eliminating the enclosure-induced coloration and compression found in traditional cabinet designs. The result is a presentation that feels open, unrestrained and strikingly lifelike, with a soundstage that extends well beyond the physical boundaries of the speakers.
